Ethereal Seaside Bridal Inspiration: Seattle, Washington

We couldn’t be more excited to share this breathtaking seaside wedding-inspired styled photo shoot with you all today! Last April, John and I had the opportunity to visit Seattle, Washington, in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest! While there, we were able to organize, style, and capture a photo shoot that had been in my mind for quite some time. Seattle is so special to John and I, because before we were married, we endured almost two years of a long-distance relationship while John was living in Seattle! So when it came time to plan this shoot, we based much of it off our own love story.

Inspired by the muted greys and blues of the Pacific Northwest coastline, we explored the fluidity of movement (the sea, the dress, the bride), and revealed the emotions of a romance torn by distance. We set the scene against the mountain landscape and tranquil sea, filled with both warm light and moody colors – symbolizing ever-changing emotions. Discovery Park’s beautiful pebbled beach was the perfect setting to capture this wedding inspiration shoot! Below is the story I wove together with images that portray a glimpse into the soul of this shoot.

As the bride walks along the beach, she reminisces about past moments with her love. She is light-hearted, remembering the whispers of sweet-nothings, the feel of their hearts beating together. As she continues along the beach, she recalls how far away he is, and the veil is a symbol of the distance between them. She reads a love-letter she’s written, and pauses to reflect on their time together – preserving the moment in her mind. Near the cliffs, she becomes tranquil, at peace; knowing that their hearts are joined forever. The quote by Longfellow expresses her desire for the ocean – she gazes upon it, yearning to glimpse a sign of his arrival – oh so soon. Finally, as twilight comes, her spirit soars free: dreaming of the upcoming moment when they finally meet again.

It was unbelievable to work with so many incredible artists who contributed their handcrafted work from all over the world. Some of these include the bespoke dove grey gown from Wisconsin, the delicate gold-inked love letter + invitation suite from Northern Michigan, the handmade Chantilly lace veils and couture headpieces from Australia, and of course the wild & organic floral bouquet curated right in Seattle.
