We will be there to pick up your getting ready suite to make for a clean and tidy backdrop. We will gather your precious bridal details, and capture them in a lovely editorial style. We will position you into the best light for the dreamiest portraits, and also help your parents know what to do with their hands during family photos. We will help guide and pose you into comfortable positions, directing the beautiful scene, while also letting you make your own magic! We will help you look your very best, and also let you have fun, laugh with your tribe, run with the wind in your hair, and capture these moments in ways that are flattering and joy-filled.
Before the wedding, we help you schedule your day and make sure you have time for everything that is most important. On the wedding day, we keep things flowing so you do not run behind.

YES! It's no secret that John and I love an adventure! We frequently travel and have visited our amazing couples in California, Seattle, Florida, and New York City - just to name a few places!
We travel for both weddings and engagement sessions! Often our couples live out-of-state, and we love being able to travel to them, explore together, and capture their engagement story in the city where they fell in love!
We include travel for all weddings within the Metro Detroit area, and charge a small fee for weddings requiring further travel. For destinations with flights, travel costs will be customized depending on the specifics of your location, however it’s generally two nights hotel and round trip flight.
Everyone knows that photographs are one of the few things you can hold onto after the wedding day. The cake is cut, the florals have faded; and your memories have been captured beautifully to look back on for years and years.
However, Beth and John are more than just "photo-takers".This is the Beth Joy difference: we are not just capturing your memories laissez-faire, but being proactive and softly directing your day to ensure the moments are captured.
On your wedding day, you need a photography team who is going to have your back, help with your timeline, fetch your champagne, pin boutonnieres, bring a smile to your little niece's face. A team who is going to give you the experience you've always dreamed of.
That is why photography is the most vital investment. You are not just paying for the "photo", but also for the experience that goes right along with it.
Typically, John and I meet our couples before the official booking. We love to chat in person to go over all the little details and of course, swap love stories! Since most of our couples live all over the United States, we often meet on FaceTime or Zoom!
Once you decide on a collection or custom quote, we will send over your online proposal and contract! A retainer fee & signed contract makes everything official. The rest of the balance is due 30 days before the wedding date.
We often book 10-15 months in advance!
As photographers, under the U.S. Copyright Law, we own the copyright of the images. We have taken them, edited them and uploaded them. They are our art and as artists, we want to make sure they aren’t resold, stolen or re-edited to protect the integrity and quality of the images.
We include a print release with all of our collections, so you have the right to print and share your images. When printing, we always recommend you use a professional lab, such as the one found in your online gallery, so that your photos do not fade over time.
We deliver the best photos that tell the story of your day. We try not to have a limit, but on average, we typically deliver around 75-100 images per hour. You will receive all of the hand-edited files in high resolution JPEG format. These are easily downloaded via an online gallery.
