Adrienne + Rudy: Whimsical, Colorful Indian Springs Metropark Wedding

Adrienne and Rudy's whimsical wedding day was so much fun to capture! Adrienne and I met while volunteering at the Brides Project together, and I was especially honored to have the opportunity to capture this couple's special day, especially as Adrienne is a photographer herself!

The day was warm and sunny, the sky filled with puffy white clouds! The ladies got ready at Adrienne's mother's home located on a gorgeous lake - the perfect space for getting ready portraits! We headed to Indian Springs Metropark, and then it was time for the ceremony! Even I had tears in my eyes as I was capturing Rudy crying tears of joy seeing his bride walk down the aisle! After some gorgeous husband-wife portraits under a spectacular oak tree, it was time to party!! Adrienne and Rudy decorated with a fun mix of vintage vases, special napkins collected over the years, and colorful wildflowers! Guests received cultural wedding cookies (homemade Mexican wedding cookies and Polish angel wings) as favors in cute boxes made with love! The day was so full of joy and celebration! We had so much fun, and hope you enjoy seeing the love between these two sweet souls!

How Did You Meet?
Junior Year. Fall semester. First period. American History. That’s where we officially met and began getting to know each other. Our first date was March 3, 2007 – we went bowling in Ypsilanti and then for a walk in a metro park. It was perfect. We’ve been together ever since! Our magical senior year ended with prom and was followed by an equally amazing summer before I went off to school in Wisconsin. We survive two years of long distance which allowed us to develop our communication skills even further. We moved in together in 2013 and adopted our cat, Kenny, a few months later.

Tell the Proposal Story!
In June of 2015 we went camping in the Manistee National Forest. On the second day we went for a nine-mile hike along the Manistee River and at one point we stopped along the most idyllic riverside field – blue skies, sunshine on our skin, the mumble of the river as it flowed by us. There, Rudy got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him and of course I said “Yes!” It was a magical moment.

Describe Your Wedding Day!
Our wedding is the perfect mix of us – a traditional, romantic, and fun. We really wanted our wedding to be a celebration of our love and to show gratitude to all the people who had supported us along the way. The best parties have mouthwatering gastronomy, vivid colors, and personal touches, so that's what we strive to include on our special day. We both value our family traditions and our favors (homemade Mexican wedding cookies and Polish angel wings) allow our guests to participate in a small part of them. Our metro park venue allowed us to pay homage for where our whole relationship began – from Gallup Park on our first date to Indian Springs where we married. We are most excited to be husband and wife after over nine years together!
