Almost two years ago, this amazing couple couple was introduced for the first time, and only 8 months later were engaged in the beautiful Manistee Forest! Despite only being together a few months, it was clear they were meant to be! Their wedding day was a perfect March day in Ann Arbor, Michigan, chilly but full of shimmering sunshine! The couple celebrated at Frutig Farms: The Valley, and the day was filled with so many special touches that brought each of their unique heritages together! For example, their invitations as well as their entire ceremony was bilingual (Spanish and English).
One of the most beautiful moments of the day were the bride/groom's vows: each spoke their vows in the other's language, and there was not a dry eye in the entire room. The celebration continued as a Mariachi band surprised everyone at the delicious BBQ dinner, and guests danced the night away under a stunning crystal chandelier! Maria and Daniel's story is as unique and one-of-a-kind as their beautiful day; the love between them, unbreakable.
From the Bride and Groom:
We met one January weekend at church. Maria was at Crossroads Baptist for the first time because she had heard about a Hispanic congregation that met there. She arrived very late and missed introductions at the beginning of the service, but Daniel came up after the service to introduce himself.
Over Labor Day weekend, we packed up the car and headed up to Manistee National Forest for a weekend of camping. On one beautiful Sunday afternoon, after a long morning bike ride and a snack, we set out on foot to a cove we had seen on our ride. On the top of a riverbed, overlooking a suspension bridge and the forest, we enjoyed a picnic together. Daniel told Maria that we wanted to use the GoPro he'd brought on the trip to record an interview with Maria about how she thought their relationship was going. After the interview and reflections on their journey, he asked her to close her eyes. He turned the camera back on, got down on one knee, asked her to open her eyes, and in English asked: "Will you marry me?" Maria, who is typically not the best with responses to romantic questions, said "YES!"
