Bohemian Countryside Wedding Inspiration

This post is longer than most, but for good reason: this was the first styled photo shoot that we've had the honor of organizing and photographing. My lovely friend Richelle of Pots Floral and I dreamed up and brought our vision to life with this relaxed, bohemian styled shoot. We came up with the idea together after realizing that our local area near Detroit, Michigan was in desperate need of some midwest, boho inspiration. The vibe we went for with this shoot was a natural, slightly gypsy style with a color scheme of merlot/burgundy, gold, cream, blush, and lots of greenery. We imagined a small wedding or elopement where a bride felt free to be herself on her wedding day. The setting is a backyard in the countryside, wild and rustic, but also contrasted by luxe details.

The details are really what make this shoot unique! Specifically florals! Richelle chose to create a one-of-a-kind bouquet - filled with peonies, cabbage roses, protea, even an artichoke! The shoot also features a rustic DIY pallet table where a bride and groom can relax in the sun, sipping and nibbling on delicious treats. There's even a cozy teepee complete with ethereal drapery and vintage rugs, and a tree swing just made for a backyard bash!

Each detail was handcrafted by artisans in our local area as well as across the country. This includes the specially designed plates and paper, beautiful calligraphy/stationery, vintage rentals, handmade jewels, as well as the incredible dreamcatchers. Our models are a real couple in love, and for part of the shoot the bride even wore her own gorgeous JCREW wedding dress. Later on, she changed into a special vintage gown from The Brides Project - an amazing organization/ bridal boutique that donates 100% of their proceeds to the Cancer Support Center in Ann Arbor.

I will forever treasure this shoot - it brought me so much joy to be able to come up with a dream, and see it come to life right before our eyes! Beyond thankful for the many people who helped make it a reality, especially my dear husband John, Richelle and her husband Jon, my sweet parents, and the many incredible vendors!
